when Bob Dylan complains that the answer is blowing in the wind, he means that the sheet with the lyrics on it got sucked into an air duct in the recording booth, and that he was winging the rest of the song. the doves were some pigeons (also trapped in the duct) he misidentified. the cannonballs were cannonballs--the 60s were crazy.
